Conference

Cultural interchange is stimulated by the conferences which bring together under the same roof people from more and more countries, all with the same object in view: to learn from each other's culture. The conferences act as catalysts for meetings and as initiators of joint projects.

Each conference is a special time for U3As and for all those who care about older people's learning and well-being. Researchers, doctors, gerontologists and technical experts all have the chance to meet and exchange ideas and experiences in the course of lectures and presentations, exhibitions and feedback sessions.

The expert contributors to IAUTA Conferences are international figures and university teachers of renown in their specialist fields. Chosen to chair or lead sessions, they represent longstanding involvement in the University of the Third Age movement.

This Powerpoint presentation was made at a workshop during the 23rd IAUTA International Conference (Rheims, France, 2006). It offered a summary of the results of an IAUTA survey conducted by Mrs Paule Vidal and colleagues from the UTA of Vannes, France.
