$\frac{3x-2}{8}= \frac{x}{4-1}$

$\frac{3x-2}{8}= \frac{x}{3}$

Cross, Multiply :

$3(3x-2) = 8x$

$9x-6 = 8x$

$9x - 8x - 6 = 0$

$9x - 8x = 6$

$\boxed{x = 6}$

Note :
Remember this cross multiply formula :
$\frac{a}{b} = \frac{c}{d} \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\, \to \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,(a \times d) = (b \times c)$

(3x - 2) / (8) = (x/4) - 1

Multiply each side by 8 :

3x - 2 = 2x - 8

Add 2 to each side:

3x = 2x - 6

Subtract 2x from each side:

x = -6 .
