Ted has 98 pounds and tom has 64 pounds so tom has (98-64) 34 pounds more than ted. So he can share 34 pounds with Tom to make equal.

First find the average of the two;
[latex] \frac{98+64}{2} [/latex]
=[latex] \frac{162}{2} [/latex]
=81
Ted should give out;
=98-81
=17
